Hoboken Police Offer Safety Tips for Thanksgiving Snow Storm
Plowable snow is predicted to fall in this area on Thanksgiving. Here, Hoboken Police shed light on snow procedures and safety tips.

Hoboken Police are gearing up for a snow storm that could cause “plowable” snow to fall in Northern New Jersey on Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day.
Hoboken’s snow contingency plan includes brining streets in advance by using salt and sand, Jon Tooke, Director of the Department of Public Safety in Hoboken explained. After the snow has fallen, streets are plowed as needed.
Before the snow hits, don’t forget to check for street signs indicating no parking during snowfall. Willow and 4th Streets are two such areas that do not allow parking during a snowstorm.

While finding alternate parking can be a hassle, Hoboken Police Lieutenant Kevin Cruz, noted that emergency vehicles cannot safely travel through town if cars are parked on these streets, putting the lives of local residents in danger.
In an interview with Hoboken Patch, Lieutenant Cruz offered several tips for staying safe in a snow storm. These included stocking up on nonperishable items, such as canned goods before hand, and walking instead of driving through town.

“Please be careful of people who come to your door and offer to shovel snow for a fee, it may be a dangerous scam,” Lieutenant Cruz added. “They may look friendly, but you never know what can happen when you open the door to a stranger.”
Cruz also encouraged local residents to keep an eye out for a neighbor who may need a hand shoveling their steps or walkway, as elderly citizens are encouraged not to shovel snow.
