Israeli Independence Day Party Comes To Hoboken
Jersey Tribe joins Jewish organizations in Hoboken to host Israeli Independence Day celebration.
One of the largest events for young Jews will take place in Hoboken next week, when the Jersey Tribe will host a party at to celebrate Israel's Independence Day on Thursday May 12.
"This is a very awesome opportunity to reconnect and celebrate Israel in this way," said Rebecca Missel, who founded the Jersey Tribe in December 2009. "This is the first time that there has been such a big event for young Jewish adults in New Jersey."
Jersey Tribe is an organization that hosts events, does community service and aims to bring young adult Jews together. The organization has between 20 and 30 paid members, but events sometimes draw around 150 participants.

Missel, 31, said that she expects more than 100 people to attend the event. The organization is organizing more around the state, she said, from New Brunswick to Sommerville to Morristown.
The event will feature a performance by the Shuk, an Israeli folk rock-band and will be $10 in advance. The event is mostly for Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s, Missel said. At the door, tickets will be $15.

Missel said that organizing events like these in New Jersey are difficult because of the lack of a real city center anywhere in the state. That's why Hoboken is a logical choice to have the event.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, the concert starts at 8 p.m. You can buy tickets online.
