Little Falls Man Arrested After Hitting 25-year-old With An Umbrella

Hoboken police arrested a Little Falls man around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday after he allegedly hit a 25-year-old pedestrian in the head with an umbrella, according to police reports.

According to police reports, two men were driving on Hudson and Newark Streets when two pedestrians walked in the street, obstructing traffic. Tomasz Potapczyk, 30, was driving his car when he yelled to the pedetrians to get out of the way, according to reports. A verbal altercation followed, police said.

When the light on Newark and Hudson Streets turned red, police said, more words were exchanged. The fight turned physical when Potapczyk allegedly struck one of the two pedestrians with an umbrella, according to reports. Police said the handle of the umbrella broke, causing a cut on the victim's face.

Police said the victim needed sutures and was transported to the Hoboken University Medical Center. Potapczyk was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful posession of a weapon, police said.
