Live Inside Former Hoboken Diner For $4,100 A Month
New signage reveals the starting rents of the apartments replacing Hoboken's diner. That would buy a lot of disco fries.

HOBOKEN, NJ — When Hoboken's longtime Malibu Diner closed in late 2021, the owners said they'd reopen someday as part of a residential development.
The diner, built in 1941, had been a popular landmark near the city's northern entrance. It offered an array of seafood, meat, and pasta dishes for reasonable prices, as well as omelettes, sandwiches, and best of all, on-site parking.
The diner was demolished in 2022 to make room for the residential development.

And apparently, the beloved 24-hour eatery is not coming back. Its real estate brokers recently began advertising the retail space available in the building.
This week, more information was revealed about the new structure. Signage (see above photo) revealed what it will cost to live in the 23 new apartments.

The units, ranging from one to three bedrooms, will rent for $4,100 per month to start.
The location is near the city's northern entrance, a quick drive up the 14th Street Viaduct to Jersey City, or north to Weehawken and the Lincoln Tunnel.
The price is in line with other new apartments in Hoboken. In fact, the city has made top-10 lists for both the highest rents in the country and highest annual rent increases in the New York/New Jersey area. READ MORE: Hoboken On List Of Highest Rents

The Time Before
The diner opened in 1941. It offered a menu of meals from seafood to eggs Benedict. It also offered parking, a rarity for businesses in the dense mile-square city.
In the past, the diner owners had said they wanted to build a five-story apartment building, and the diner would be on the ground floor.
Until the Malibu reopens, Hoboken is left without a diner, although the city has dozens of popular restaurants. READ MORE: Malibu Closes On New Year's Eve
