Local Teacher is NJ Non-Public Teacher of the Year

All Saints Episcopal Day School teacher gets award.

It pays off to stay in school. Especially if you start at All Saints Episcopal and Libby Vino is your teacher.

Vino, a teacher at All Saints Episcopal Day School has been named the New Jersey’s Nonpublic School Teacher of the Year for 2011.

"Those of us who work with Libby know how well-deserved this recognition is," said All Saints Head of School Jill Singleton, who nominated Vino for the award. "We’re proud of her and we’re excited that many more people can be inspired by her, the way we are every day."

The New Jersey Council for American Private Education gives out the prize annually.

Vino has taught for 12 years, the last 10 at All Saints. She said she was drawn to the school by its stated mission to inspire in students.

"This work over the last four years has allowed me to be a part of everything from choosing texts, to writing complex inter-disciplinary curricula and projects, to developing a student manual, to creating a tweens/teens centered atmosphere where learning is relevant and meaningful," Vino said. "This has been an incredibly fulfilling process for me and has included countless special projects and initiatives that are now the essence of what makes our school a wonderful middle school."
