Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno To Attend Hospital Ribbon Cutting

After many months of discussion, bankruptcy negotiations and threats of the hospital closing, a day has come nobody saw coming a few months ago: a ribbon cutting.

On Thursday afternoon, the city will symbolically hand over the control of the hospital to new owners HUMC Holdco LLC, who also own the Bayonne Medical Center.

Chief Transition Officer Philip Scheangold is serving as the hospital's new CEO.

Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno will also be present at the ceremony. Gov. Chris Christie in an effort to keep the hospital open. Earlier he had allocated to go toward relieving the hospital debt.

On Thursday, former Mayor David Roberts, Mayor Dawn Zimmer and former Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority Chairwoman Toni Tomarazzo will also be present to cut the proverbial ribbon.
