Mama Johnson Field Scheduled to Open in Two Weeks
After some delays, the field should be ready for use on Oct. 1, according the Hoboken Housing Authority Chairman.

Mama Johnson field is set to open for use on October 1, said Jake Stuiver, the chairman of the Hoboken Housing Authority.
While the field was scheduled to be completed before the summer, some unforeseen debris on the field caused delays as well as increased costs.
The cost was increased by $66,635. The new total cost of the project is $911,970, Stuiver said previously.

The additional money to the contract to finish the project was approved by the Hoboken Housing Authority Board earlier this summer. The city had previously agreed to pay $600,000 of the project, in a shared service contract with the HHA. The rest of the cost will be paid by the HHA.
The renovations to Mama Johnson Field—which is located in the heart of the Hoboken Housing Authority—will include batting cages, dugout areas, new fencing, and the relocation of some of the lighting. The field is supposed to be used for multiple sports and activities.
