Can You Identify These Bathrooms In NJ? Hudson County Prosecutor Needs To Know
A teen was charged when a recording device was found in a JCPenney bathroom, and prosecutors hope to identify other bathrooms in the photos.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Can you identify these bathrooms? Do you recognize the fluffy towel on the rack, or perhaps the broken blinds?
A man has been charged with invasion of privacy after a recording device was found in a family bathroom at a Jersey City mall this summer, and now prosecutors are hoping to identify locations of bathrooms seen in other photos.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Andy Cardenas, 18, of Jersey City on Tuesday at the Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus, they said.

Prosecutors said that on Friday. Aug. 9, an adult woman discovered a black device while using the family restroom on the first floor of JCPenney at the Newport Centre Mall, a popular mall near the Hudson River that's popular with customers both in New York City and New Jersey.
Cardenas was released on a summons but is scheduled to make an appearance in court on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Prosecutors said they "later identified Cardenas as a person of interest. Multiple electronic/digital files were recovered from the recording device, which contained images from several unidentified restrooms. The Special Victims Unit is seeking the public’s help identifying the location of the restrooms in the attached photos."

They added, "It is not yet known how long the recording device was being utilized."
Anyone with information about the matter, or wishing to report a sex crime, should call the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) at 201-915-1234, prosecutors said.
All information will be kept confidential, prosecutors said.
