Man Fatally Struck By NJ Transit Train, Bergen County Line Delayed

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A man was killed by a train heading from Bergen County to Hoboken on Tuesday morning, NJ Transit said.

As of 10 a.m., service had resumed but was subject to up to 60-minute delays, the agency said.

At that time, the agency released this updated statement: "At approximately 7:49 a.m., Bergen County Line train 1154, which departed Suffern, N.Y. at 7:09 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 8:14 a.m., struck and fatally injured an adult male pedestrian near the Garfield Station in the vicinity of Outwater Lane.

"There were no reported injuries to the 600 customers or crew on board. Bergen County Line service was temporarily suspended but has since resumed with 60 minute delays. New Jersey Transit police are on scene and leading the investigation."
