Man Sexually Assaulted Girl, 14, In Hudson County: Prosecutor

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A West New York man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in that town back in March, prosecutors said Monday.

Christopher Ortiz, 37, of West New York has been charged with second-degree sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal sexual contact, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that a 14-year-old girl told them that in the early morning hours of Monday, March 11, "she was approached by an unknown male and she entered his vehicle."

She said he later sexually assaulted her inside his home.

Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest. Anyone who wants to report a sex crime should call the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims' Unit (SVU) at 201-915-1234, her office said.
