New Art Gallery to Open in Uptown Hoboken

Formerly Councilwoman Beth Mason's campaign office, it will now be an art gallery.

It's a trend that started last year when Rotating Galleries moved into a downtown store front and started show casing art. More locations followed this trend, and now multiple store fronts around town are filled with local art.

New on that list is a gallery at 1200 Washington St.—called Gallery 1200—that will be officially opened on Sunday.

Hoboken artist Laura Renee Meyerson is curating the exhibition at the location that used to serve as Councilwoman Beth Mason's campaign office. Mason is now opening the gallery, sponsoring it with the Mason Family Civic League.

In an announcement, Meyerson said, "I am always keeping my eye out for spaces to exhibit my work in Hoboken." Meyerson has lived in Hoboken for the past eight years.
