New Council Majority To Hold First Meeting

After a swearing in at 11 a.m., a reorganization meeting will take place at noon on Friday.

After about six months, the power of the Hoboken City Council will switch back into Mayor Dawn Zimmer's hands on Friday afternoon, after the swearing in of newly elected Sixth Ward Councilwoman Jennifer Giattino.

The incumbents who were re-elected will also (re-)take the oath of office, which will be administered by at 11 a.m. on the steps of City Hall.

At noon, the council will hold a reorganization meeting. Current Council President Beth Mason will likely lose her position and will be succeeded by a member of the new, pro-Zimmer majority.

Other than electing a new president and vice president, the council will be voting on a number of service contracts, which include lawyers and remediation work.

The council will also vote to allow St. Ann's Church to conduct its annual Italian Feast later on in the summer.
