New Hoboken Police Chief to Be Sworn In at Special Ceremony on Dec. 1

The public ceremony will be held on Dec. 1 for Lt. Kenneth Ferrante, a decorated officer with more than 30 years of experience on the force.

Hoboken will swear in the Mile Square’s next Chief of Police in a special public ceremony on Dec 1. Lieutenant Kenneth Ferrante, an officer with more than 30 years on the force, will take over for the retiring Eddie Garcia, who was appointed Provisional Chief of Police last July.

The swearing in ceremony will take place at noon on Dec. 1 in the Bissinger Room, located on the 4th floor of the Howe Center on the Stevens Institute of Technology campus, according to the City of Hoboken. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

As previously reported on Patch, Lieutenant Ferrante served as a patrol and community police officer for 21 years. He has served as supervisor for more than 11 years as well.

As the new Hoboken Chief of Police, Ferrante plans to establish a waterfront parks division, enhance police training, and create an online report filing system for residents.

Lieutenant Ferrante has received multiple awards for his service including the Combat Cross, two Honorable Service awards and two Exceptional Duty awards.
