NJ Transit to Partner with Google Wallet
NJ Transit is first agency to partner with Google wallet.

It happens to everyone: you have to catch a train, buy a ticket, but you have no cash.
But, to all commuters who think this is annoying: on NJ Transit you can now use your smart phone to buy your tickets.
NJ Transit is partnering with Google Wallet, enabling travelers to download an application with which they can “tap and pay," without waiting in line at the machine or the ticket window.

Gov. Chris Christie announced the partnership in a press release on Wednesday. "I’m proud that New Jersey’s public transportation system is the very first public transportation agency to partner with Google Wallet," he said.
According to NJ Transit, the new technology uses "near field communication," which enables wireless data transmission between two objects when they are brought close to eachother. By making payments with a wave of their phone in front of a sensor, customers who use Google Wallet no longer need cash or credit cards to buy tickets.
