JERSEY CITY, NJ — Owner Alyza Brevard-Rodriguez was on hand for the opening last month of the Other Side Cannabis Dispensary and Lounge in Jersey City Heights.

The shop — a short walk from the 9th Street Light Rail Elevator that runs down the hill to Hoboken — is the "first recognized disabled veteran-owned, Latino-investor, minority owned" dispensary, said Brevard-Rodriguez, who is a Navy veteran.

As with other dispensaries in New Jersey, it took several years for the owners to open the business — around 31 months, said Brevard-Rodriguez. She also owns Sw3at Wellness on Central Avenue nearby.
