Police Blotter: Newark Man Charged with Car Theft, Resisting Arrest
Charles Beaver, 47, was arrested and charged Wednesday morning after crashing a stolen car at Observer Highway & Park Ave.

On Wednesday, May 18, at approximately 7:21 a.m., Police Officers Arturo Gonzalez and Danilo Cabrera were dispatched to the area of Observer Highway & Park Ave. on the report of a man attempting to steal a motor vehicle. The incident was being reported via cell phone by the owner of the car.
Upon arrival, the officers saw the vehicle crashed into a guard rail and an individual fleeing on Vazzetti Way while another man was pointing and stating, "That's him." Officer Gonzalez ordered the fleeing man (later identified as Charles Beavers, 47, of Newark) to stop and drop to the ground. He continued to run and when Officer Gonzalez caught up to him and grabbed his coat, Beavers turned around and attempted to knock him to the ground, according to the poliace report.
Officer Gonzalez brought Beavers to the ground, and back-up officers arrived to help subdue him. He continued to resist arrest by interlocking his hands under his body, yelling, "I can't go back, don't do this to me!"
