Renovation of Mama Johnson Field Supposed to be Done By Spring

The city and the Hoboken Housing Authority entered into a shared service agreement for Mama Johnson Field.

Come spring, Mama Johnson Field—which is located in the Hoboken Housing Authority—should be returfed, renovated and ready for use, according to Fourth Ward Councilman Tim Occhipinti.

The City Council voted unanimously to enter into a shared service contract with the Hoboken Housing Authority to facilitate speedy returfing and draining of the field.

The renovation will be paid for earlier this year, Occhipinti said.

"The city doesn’t have enough recreational place for kids to play on," Occhipinti said during a recent council meeting. "This agreement is best for everyone involved."
