The City Council awarded a $394,150 contract to a New York firm on Wednesday night, to work on improvements on several roads in town.

Tilcon New York, Inc. was one of three firms that responded to the city's bid, according to a resolution on the agenda of Wednesday night's meeting.

The streets in question include Clinton Street between 15th and 16th; Eleventh Street between Willow and Madison and Fourth between River and Hudson.

Fourth Ward Councilman Tim Occhipinti, who represents the southwestern part of town, voted against the contract, because none of the streets are in his ward.

Council members Michael Russo, Ravi Bhalla, Peter Cunningham, David Mello and Jennifer Giattino voted in favor. Councilmembers Carol Marsh, Beth Mason and Theresa Castellano were absent.
