POLL: Should People Pay a $200 Fee For A Public Defender?

The issue was briefly discussed during Wednesday night's council meeting, and will be voted on during another meeting.

The Hoboken City Council briefly discussed implementing a new law in Hoboken which would mean that people will have to pay a $200 fee for a public defender.

Currently, if somebody has to appear in Hoboken municipal court, they are entitled to a free public defender.

Business Administrator said it's "pretty standard" across the state.

The council members decided to postpone a vote and more discussion on the ordinance—which was introduced by Councilwoman-at-Large Carol Marsh—to a future council meeting.
