“Our mission is to equip children and families with the tools not only to survive, but also to overcome the many barriers that they face,” Kay LiCausi of the Jubilee Center said. “We believe that all people deserve a fair chance at creating a fulfilling life based on self-esteem, self-reliance, personal accountability and respect for others.”

Enriching the Lives of Students in Need

The Jubilee Center started as a homework club in a community room in Hoboken public housing community. The homework club evolved into an afterschool and summer program in 2003 at a newly constructed building on 6th and Jackson Streets.

When the children arrive at the Jubilee Center, they are offered a healthy snack and given homework assistance and tutoring. The center sponsors enrichment classes such as dance, karate, computers, cooking, gardening and arts and crafts. The day ends with a nutritious meal provided by one of five local restaurants.
