Will the City Be Able to Pay for the Construction of the 9/11 Memorial?
A bond ordinance is on Wednesday night's agenda.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer is asking the city council to approve a roughly $2,5 million bond to pay for the reconstruction of Pier A and the construction of the 9/11 memorial.
The permanent 9/11 memorial—which initially was supposed to be done about a year ago—will be placed in the middle of the pier, by the trees that were planted there in the memory of those who were killed.
The city council will vote on the matter on Wednesday night, during its second meeting of the month.

The city recently went out to bid for a construction company to complete the project.
A bond ordinance needs a super majority—in this case, six votes—to pass. In the past months, none of the proposed bond ordinances have met a super majority.
