After 20 New COVID Cases, Hazlet Superintendent Issues Warning
Hazlet Township Schools Superintendent Scott Ridley issued a statement encouraging residents to stay safe during the holidays.
HAZLET, NJ — After there were 20 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 last week, Hazlet Township Schools Superintendent Scott Ridley issued a statement encouraging residents to stay safe during the holidays.
About three months of school into the school year, Ridley said that a lot of in-person activities had returned, including books fairs, athletic competitions, and after-school activities.
"However, covid isn't gone. Last week we had 2o confirmed cases in our schools. The majority of them stemming from a single social gathering," he said.

Ridley said that as the holidays approach, residents should prioritize health and safety as they travel and spend time with family and friends.
"The governor has suggested that if infections continue to drop and vaccinations continue to rise, he may well rescind the mask mandate sometime in January," he said. "So let's work together to make that a reality."
