Crossing Guards Needed In Hazlet, Applications Open

The Police Department is seeking more crossing guards to help school children cross the road in various parts of town.

HAZLET, NJ - Hazlet still needs more crossing guards ahead of the 2023-24 school year, officials said this week.

The Hazlet Township Police Department is seeking to hire permanent and substitute crossing guards to keep children safe in town while they walk to and from school or the school bus.

“The permanent crossing guard posts are limited; however, substitute positions are readily available,” Hazlet police said in a statement.

Hours are one to three per day depending on assignment; the rate of pay offered is $15 per hour.

Jacket, raincoat, hat, gloves, safety vests and stop signs are provided.

A criminal background check is required for all candidates. Each applicant will be fingerprinted by the Hazlet Township Police Department, at no cost to the applicant, in order to complete the application process.
