Cyclist Stable After Holmdel Collision, Driver Issued Summons

Both the cyclist and the motor vehicle driver were taken to the hospital following the Wednesday morning collision on Holland Road.

HOLMDEL, NJ — A cyclist who was hit by a car Wednesday morning on Holland Road is now in stable condition, according to the Holmdel Township Police Department.

The driver, who was also injured, was issued a summons. In a statement posted Wednesday afternoon, police reminded residents to be "extra careful and mindful of bicyclists" while behind the wheel.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. near Glenn Way. The cyclist was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center and the driver was taken to Bayshore Medical Center, police said.

Another cyclist (who was forced off the roadway, according to police) was treated for minor injuries and transported to Bayshore Medical Center.

The crash is being investigated by Ptl. Menosky of the Holmdel Township Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Ptl. Menosky at (732) 946-4400 ext: 1731 or 0079.
