Ready, Set, Glow: Meet The Monmouth County Family Set To Be Featured On Hallmark+
The Powers family is aiming to spread holiday joy and raise awareness for local charities as part of their Hallmark+ feature.

HAZLET, NJ — As the holiday season begins, this Hazlet family is bringing their Christmas lights tradition to the Hallmark+ show “Ready, Set, Glow.”
The show, which features families’ holiday lights decor across the country, will feature the Powers family and their holiday light display, with Hallmark Star Wes Brown as the host.
For John Powers, the joy of holiday decorating began when he was just 10 years old and started lighting up his parents’ home with holiday decorations. That joy grew when he and his wife, Christine, purchased their own home in 1997, evolving the seasonal lights decor into an annual tradition.

For more than two decades, Powers, his wife and their children have aimed to bring Christmas magic to life for their family, friends and neighbors with their holiday lights display.

In recent years, Powers said their decorating took on an even deeper meaning when he and Christine faced life-threatening cancer diagnoses.

Throughout their diagnoses and treatment, Powers said the holiday tradition became a form of therapy for them and a symbol of resilience.
Now both cancer-free, the two are excited to celebrate the holiday season by giving back and raising funds and awareness for Ronald McDonald House charities as part of their “Ready, Set, Glow” feature.
“We are incredibly grateful to Hallmark Plus for the opportunity to share our story and support a cause that’s close to our hearts,” Powers said. “Our hope is that our story of resilience and love for Christmas inspires others and helps us make a meaningful difference for families facing hardships.”
The Powers’ “Ready, Set, Glow” episode is set to air on Dec. 12 on Hallmark Plus.
