Hazlet Cancels Outdoor Concert Ahead Of Incoming Storm

HAZLET, NJ — Hazlet Township has cancelled the Hazlet Pops concert scheduled for Thursday evening due to inclement weather, the Hazlet Recreation Department said.
In an announcement posted Thursday afternoon, the department said the concert has been canceled with no rain date due to the forecast, which is calling for flash flooding across the state and up to seven inches of rain possible.
A State of Emergency has been declared for New Jersey ahead of the storms, which is set to go into effect at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

"Not the finale we wanted, but unfortunately, the Hazlet Pops concert for this evening, July 31, is canceled due to the weather forecast..." the department said. "Thank you to our talented hometown community band members and director Ray Lahaye for the previous two concerts we enjoyed in Veterans Park earlier in July."
The Hazlet Pops community band has presented two outdoor concerts at Veterans Park throughout July, with the third one originally scheduled to take place Thursday evening.

All Hazlet Pops concerts are free, and those of all ages are welcome to attend. The concert series is presented by Hazlet Recreation.
