HAZLET, NJ — Michael Sachs was once again chosen as mayor at the Hazlet Township Committee's annual reorganization meeting Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Before an audience of supporters, Republicans Robert Preston Jr. and James Cavuto, elected in November, were sworn in for full three-year terms. Republican Peter Terranova took the oath of office for the two-year unexpired term he won in November.

The committee selected Sachs as mayor and Terranova to serve as the deputy mayor.

Preston was appointed to the committee in April to complete the term vacated by Scott Aagre. Cavuto was running for the seat vacated by Former Deputy Mayor Michael Glackin, who did not seek re-election after serving two terms.

However Glackin will continue serving on the committee another year to fill a vacancy on the committee created by James "Skip" McKay's recent departure.

Terranova was appointed to the committee earlier in 2022 to replace former Mayor Tara Clark, who resigned.

Sachs announced that the schedule of regular meetings of the Township Committee will change in 2023. Meetings will now be held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. A full agenda of appointed professionals can be found on the Hazlet Agenda Center.
