Hazlet Driver Flees Holmdel Cop; Later Arrested At Supermarket

Hazlet resident Kenneth Reid, 61, was arrested, lodged in county jail after being charged with attempting to elude police.

HOLMDEL, NJ — After a local patrol officer tried to stop a driver, the driver fled - only to be arrested soon after at an area ShopRite, Holmdel police said.

Patrolman Keith Pettway attempted to stop the car on Friday, Feb. 2, at about 8:14 p.m., but the driver fled the area.

Following Attorney General guidelines, Pettway did not pursue the vehicle, police said.

But the operator of the car was later identified as 61-year-old Hazlet resident Kenneth Reid, police said.

Reid was located at the ShopRite in Hazlet, and arrested for attempting to elude police, Holmdel police said in a report.

Reid was processed and lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold. Reid was also charged with multiple motor vehicle offenses, according to the police report.
