Hazlet Man, 21, Arrested with Over Half Ounce of MDMA, Hashish

The 21-year-old was found with over half an ounce of MDMA (Ecstasy) and hashish, and was given multiple drug charges.

A 21-year-old Hazlet man has been arrested and given multiple drug charges after being found in possession of a large quantity of the party drug, MDMA, or Ecstasy, as well as hashish, according to Monmouth County court documents.

John W. Large, of Poole Avenue, was arrested by Hazlet police on November 6 and charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, MDMA, in excess of one half ounce, and a charge of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) with Intent to Distribute. Large was also allegedly found with hashish in excess of 5 grams, and given a second Possessio of CDS charge.

Large was arrested near the Sycamore Drive Elementary School, and was consequently charged with Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute within 1000 feet of a School Zone.

Bail was set by Judge Honora Kilgallen at $95,000 for the MDMA and distribution charges, and $1,000 with 10% posting option for the hashish charge. He was taken to Monmouth County Correctional Institute in lieu of bail, with a first court appearance scheduled for November 10 at 12:30 p.m.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
