Hazlet Schools Will Keep Same Isolation, Quarantine Times

After the CDC announced shorter isolation and quarantine times, Hazlet Township Public Schools said they would wait for OK from DOH and DOE.

HAZLET, NJ — The Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced it would cut the recommended time for isolation in half and shorten quarantine, but those new guidelines won't be applied to Hazlet Township Public Schools for now.

The school district announced that it would stick with the current isolation and quarantine times since the new CDC rules had not yet been endorsed by the NJ Department of Health and Department of Education for use in a school setting.

"Until this further guidance arrives, at the recommendation of our district physician, we will continue to follow the in-place quarantine and isolation protocols set forth by the NJ Department of Health," the district said.

The district also said the administration was working on a plan to keep school in person, even as COVID-19 cases are on the rise.

"The Administration and nursing staff, along with our school physician, have been working all week to prepare and maintain a healthy in-person learning environment for our reopening on Monday," the district said.
