HAZLET, NJ — A neighborhood holiday light show is coming back to Meredith Way beginning tomorrow night.

And Ryan Basile, the Monmouth University student and lighting genius behind the light show at his parents' home, is ready to roll - and to make the event as courteous as possible for neighbors.

With finishing up school and working on this year's Disney-themed light show, Basile also took time to work with the town to keep the traffic impact controlled for the show, he said.

Working with police in town, the 20-minute outdoor shows will be screened at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., starting this Friday. The address is 21 Meredith Way.

Non-resident parking won't be permitted on his street or nearby Selma Lane from 5 p.m. to midnight on the weekends the show is on, he added. Police confirmed the parking restrictions and also will provide a street light for safety at the Middle Road intersection for anyone who needs to cross.

The first show is this Friday night. It will be on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. this weekend through the New Year's Day weekend, he said. There is no show on Christmas Day.

Basile, 19, is studying to be a software engineer at college and has said in past interviews that working with lights is a passion of his - and one he inherited from years of helping his father with Christmas decorations and lights on the house.

"Since I was a baby, he always did crazy lights. He pushed me to do what I do now," he said in an interview about last year's show.

Last year his Disney-themed light projection show incorporated scenes and music from classics like "The Little Mermaid," "Toy Story" and "Peter Pan."

Basile said last year he worked with four light controllers and a total of 64 channels. Last year was the first year with projections.

He said he and his family are Disney fans.

"My dream would be to do this for Disney," he said.
