Holmdel Election Causing Tension in Town: Campaign Files Police Complaint Over Missing Signs
One campaign group in Holmdel have filed a complaint with police over missing campaign signs.

This is New Jersey, and so it would only be natural for political campaigns here to get intense and pettily personal, otherwise we wouldn’t be talking politics in the great Garden State, would we?
One campaign group has taken their issues straight to the police department, with a complaint filed over missing campaign signs.
The Berk and Strickland Democrat campaign for Holmdel Township Committee filed a police statement last week reporting the theft of what they calculate to be over 50 campaign signs.

In a jointly-written letter to Patch titled “Dirty Politics in Holmdel”, Janet Berk says: “In every campaign there is a certain amount of mischief with signs. A few signs disappear or are vandalized or are pulled out and left on the spot, but this year the rate of theft has increased.”
Karen Strickland added, “In the 15 years I have been involved in campaigns in Holmdel, I have never seen this many signs simply disappear. Losing signs is troubling both because signs are expensive and it disadvantages one side’s ability to advertise their campaign.”

In some cases the Berk/Strickland sign has been removed and replaced with their opponent’s sign in the same spot, the duo stated.
This election is evidently one very important to residents of Holmdel, and the Monmouth County Patch editor has been receiving several letters from concerned citizens, as well as politics, voicing their stand on several important issues affecting the town.
