Holmdel New Year's Walk Canceled Due To COVID-19, Rain

Because of the rise in COVID-19 and the chance of rain in the forecast the New Year's Day Walk in Holmdel will no longer happen.

HOLMDEL, NJ — The annual New Year's Day Walk in Holmdel has been canceled because of the recent rise in COVID-19 cases and the weather forecast, according to Zoning Board Chair and Walk Leader Ralph Blumenthal.

"Due to the current very rapid increase in Covid-19 cases here in Monmouth County and the forecast for steady rain on Saturday morning and into the afternoon, we are canceling our plans for a New Year's Day Walk," Blumenthal wrote in an email Wednesday. "The trails will be muddy and it won't be the fun hike that we like to have. Moreover, at this time it is safer for everyone if we avoid group activities."
