Holmdel Police Now Offer Permanent Drop Box for "Project Medicine Drop"

The New Jersey program "Medicine Drop Box" will now be a permanent fixture at the Holmdel Police headquarters for residents.

Since its launch in November 2011, Project Medicine Drop has become a key component of the state’s efforts to broaden public awareness about prescription drug abuse, and to curb the misuse of prescription drugs. This program allows New Jersey residents to dispose of unused and expired medications anonymously, but on only two days each year.

Based upon the success of this program in Holmdel, and the high level of participation of residents since its inception, the Holmdel Police Department has been chosen to house a permanent drop box for unwanted and expired medications.

The box is located in the lobby of Holmdel Police Headquarters at 4 Crawfords Corner Road, and can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Identification is not required; residents can simply drop the medications in the drop box and leave anonymously.
