HOLMDEL, NJ — Holmdel Township has been awarded a $3.5 million grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation for improvements to Crawford Corners Road, Mayor Rocco Impreveduto announced Wednesday.

Impreveduto and the Township Committee plan to use the grant’s funds to support the upcoming road widening of Crawford Corners Road and the road’s signal improvements project.

The widening of Crawford Corners Road aims to widen the entire length of the road between Longstreet Road and South Holland Road, Township officials said.

“This is a noteworthy development and something we are incredibly proud of,” Impreveduto said. “$3.5 million is a significant amount of grant funding for a town the size of Holmdel.”

According to Township officials, the roadway and sidewalk improvements will continue to advance both pedestrian and vehicular transportation throughout local neighborhoods and will provide safe access to Holmdel High School, Satz Middle School, Holmdel’s Municipal Complex and the town’s emergency service stations.

The grant will be awarded to Holmdel over the course of two years, Impreveduto said.

The first $2 million will be awarded during the first year, and the remaining $1.5 million will be awarded during the second year.

“We are really pleased to be the recipients of this state funding," Impreveduto said. "And I would like to personally thank Senator Declan O’Scanlon who was instrumental in helping us secure this grant for the Township."

In addition to the road widening of Crawfords Corner Road, planned improvements also include the reconstruction of the Crawfords Corner Road and Longstreet Road intersection.

According to Township officials, this reconstruction will allow for dedicated turn lanes and an updated traffic signal at the entrance to the high school campus.

Impreveduto said he hopes to break ground on improvements in June 2025, which will enable the town to get work done before the following school year begins.

"The Crawfords Corner Road Widening and Signal Improvement Project is a continuation of the Township’s efforts to provide safe and reliable transportation routes through the Township for both drivers and pedestrians," Township officials said
