Man, 33, Indicted on Sex Abuse Charges Involving Hazlet Minor

A Jersey City man has been indicted in Monmouth County Court for charges endangering the welfare and sexually abusing a minor.

A Jersey City man has been handed down a three count indictment following sex abuse charges involving a Hazlet minor last year, according to Monmouth County court records.

Chris A. Khalil, 33, who records show was in a position of responsibility or guardianship over the minor, was charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child less than 18 years of age, a second degree crime, as well as Endangering the Welfare of a Child by enaging in sexual conduct, which is also a second degree crime. Khalil was also indicted on a third count of Criminal Sexual Contact of the third degree on a child between the ages of thirteen but less than sixteen.

The abuse occurred in Hazlet Township between December of 2013 and January of 2014, on a victim listed only as “M.S.”, court records showed.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
