Man Charged In Connection To Crime Spree In Hazlet

The man stole a pocketbook from a Lidl and then took a car that was left running outside a store, according to police.

HAZLET, NJ — A man from Middletown was charged with theft and car burglary, according to the Hazlet Police Department.

On Aug. 12, William Priola, 43, grabbed a pocketbook from a woman's cart at a Lidl supermarket and ran away from the store, according to police.

Priola was arrested on Aug. 20 and taken to the Monmouth County Correction Institute.

Upon investigating, police found that after leaving the Lidl store Priola made his way to the Worocco gas station and convenience mart on Highway 36 & Laurel Avenue where he stole a car that was left running outside the store.

Priola had also previously been charged by the Holmdel Township Police Department for burglary of Sheepshead Bagels on Aug. 13.
