
High Technology High School in Lincroft was ranked the best high school for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in the country, according to a recent report by U.S. News and World Report.
U.S. News released the 2013 Best High Schools rankings Monday. The rankings were based on Advanced Placement STEM test data for 2011 graduates. Of 500 public schools, 250 earned a numerical rank for their STEM achievement.
High Technology High School has earned the top title for the third straight year. Students at the school come from more than 50 school districts to participate in the STEM curriculum.

Freshman students begin with courses in software application and engineering design, U.S. News reported. Sophomores take physics and can earn college credit while also studying sustainable energy at Brookdale Community College, where the high school is located.
Half of the public schools that were ranked this year were in New Jersey, New York or California, U.S. News said. Nearly 45 of the ranked schools are either charter or magnet schools.
