Close Race For Third Spot On Holmdel Board of Education

Holmdel school board President Peter Reddy had an unofficial 27-vote lead to edge out one challenger. Opponent awaits final vote tally.

HOLMDEL, NJ — With 100 percent of districts reporting, unofficial votes are now in for the race for Holmdel Board of Education, with a close race between the current board president who has a 27-vote lead over a challenger.

Current Board President Peter Reddy was one of four candidates seeking three full-term seats on the Holmdel Board of Education. Reddy has 1,794 votes, apparently edging out one challenger to return to the board. But the vote is very close.

Alison LoPresti, Anthony Libecci and Reham Taha were also running, as a team, for the school board.

In unofficial results, LoPresti was the high vote-getter with 2,243 votes. Libecci had 2,177 votes and Taha had 1,767 votes.

Libecci said Tuesday night the team is waiting for results of mail-in and provisional ballots since the race is so close between Reddy and Taha - 27 votes.

Reddy has served on the school board for nine years. Two other current board members whose terms expire this year were not seeking re-election: Eileen Briamonte and Linda Zhang.
