HOLMDEL, NJ — Route 35 northbound will face daily right shoulder closures in Holmdel and Hazlet due to the start of a maintenance roadway resurfacing project, the NJ Department of Transportation announced on Friday.
Once closures begin on Monday, officials said they’ll continue throughout the next two weeks. The road work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to officials.
“This work is part of a $11.6 million state-funded maintenance project that will reconstruct concrete, as well as mill and pave, on approximately three miles of Route 35 northbound,” NJ Department of Transportation officials said. "In addition to concrete and pavement improvements on these roadways, the project also includes re-striping and some landscaping."

According to the NJ Department of Transportation, the right shoulder of Route 35 northbound is scheduled to be closed between Palmer Avenue in Holmdel and Holmdel Road in Hazlet to help reset manholes.
When needed, officials said the right lane of Route 35 northbound may also be closed between Palmer Avenue and Holmdel Road to assist with repairs.

If a right lane closure is necessary, officials said it will begin at 9 a.m. and reopen at 3 p.m. daily. During that closure, at least one lane will be maintained on Route 35 northbound throughout construction.
“Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution and expect delays when driving through the work zone,” officials said.
The full reconstruction project is expected to be complete by early summer 2025.
