Saturday: New Bocce Courts Dedicated in Hazlet

Bocce Courts celebration

Saturday marks the celebration of two new bocce courts in Hazlet, which will be dedicated to the to the Rocket Special Olympics team.

Andy Bace, Trustee of S.T.A.R.S, said the organization is responsible for raising the money and building the court with the help of volunteers. Home Depot donated money and some of its employees will volunteer in the next couple of weeks to finish the landscaping.

The court will be open to the public, but S.T.A.R.S hopes to hold a Special Olympics bocce tournament for Monmouth and Ocean County kids soon. 

The ceremony is Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hazlet Town Hall.

Blues and BBQ pre-registration

The festival is scheduled for Sept. 21, with a rain date of of Sept. 28. 

Riders can pre-register online for for $25 and $15 for passengers. Riders get a t-shirt with registration, passengers can buy shirts for $10.
