Trapped Motorist In Holmdel Crash Rescued By State Trooper

The rescue took place on Tuesday afternoon on the Garden State Parkway, Holmdel first responders said.

HOLMDEL, NJ - A motorist who became trapped after a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Holmdel on Tuesday was rescued by a New Jersey State Police trooper, fire officials said Wednesday.

State police said the crash occurred at 12:16 p.m. on the Parkway northbound at milepost 116.9 in Holmdel.

Based on preliminary information, state police said a Ford F150 and Nissan SUV were involved in a crash that caused both vehicles to overturn.

The occupant of the Ford was entrapped momentarily and sustained non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the Nissan had non-life threatening injuries, state police said. The injured were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment, police said.

A Holmdel Fire & Rescue Co. No. 2 social media post said the incident took place on the express lanes.

The trapped motorist was pulled to safety by the state trooper by the time the Holmdel Fire & Rescue arrived at the scene, according to the statement from fire officials. The post said "one of the vehicles was leaking a large amount of gas.”

The Parkway was cleared by units by 1 p.m., the Holmdel Fire & Rescue Company No. 2 said.
