17 High School Students Earn Top Scores on National French Exam

The Livingston Board of Education recognized the students on Monday.

Livingston High School students scored high marks on the Le Grand Concours French National Exam this year. 

Seventeen high school students attained national recognition for academic excellence on the exam, ranking in the top 10 nationally and in New Jersey.

The Livingston students were taught and coached by high school French teachers Soukeyna Diop-Tall, Florence Steffener and Gerard Amsellem.

The following students were honored Monday at the Board of Education for the performance on the exam: 

Level 1

  • Miriam Ibrahim is ranked 10th in the nation and state

Level 2

  • Raphael Miller is ranked 3rd in nation and state
  • Sorasicha Nithikasem is 4th in nation and state
  • Natalie Kahn is 5th in the nation and state
  • Cathy Nie is 5th in the nation and state
  • Laura Serban is 7th in the nation and state
  • Justin Melnick is 8th in the nation and state
  • Gabriela Ontaneda is 8th in the nation and state
  • Weiying Lu is 10th in the nation and state
  • Daniel Zhu is 10th in the nation and state

Level 3

  • Daphne Duvivier is 8th in the nation and 6th in the state

Level 4

  • Kevin Kwok is 7th in the nation and 12th in the state
  • Grace Ann is 15 in the nation and 10th in the state 

Level 5

  • Alex Nie is is 7th in the nation and 5th in the state 
  • Justine Jang is 9th in the nation and 6th in the state
  • Katherine Lee is 10th in the nation and 13th in the state,
  • Lindsey Sokol is 12th in the nation and 9th in the state
