While there are some risk factors that cannot be controlled, such as age and race/ethnicity, others can be controlled. Lifestyle changes such as increased physical activity, healthier eating, and efforts to control high blood pressure can all help decrease your stroke risk.

The Stroke Risk Assessment Screening on May 20th at the Livingston Senior/Community Center is free and will help you understand your risk of having a stroke and what you can do to lower it. The screening will test blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose and will include a brief nursing consultation. Fasting before the screening is not required, but preferred.
