Burglars Break Into Livingston Mall Jewelry Store, Local Home: Police

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Two burglaries took place in Livingston last week, police say: one at a jewelry store and another at a local home.

The Livingston Police Department released the following details about each burglary:

Commercial Burglary – “On Oct. 29 at 7:48 p.m., Livingston officers responded to the Livingston Mall (Roma Jewelers) on a report of a burglar alarm to the jewelry store. Upon the officers’ arrival, they observed the metal gate that surrounds the store front had been cut in a circle near the bottom corner. A key holder arrived and confirmed the burglary. The Livingston Detective Bureau responded and processed the scene. The investigation is ongoing.”

Burglary to Residence – “On Oct. 30 at 8:24 a.m., Livingston officers responded to a Hillside Terrace residence on a report of a burglary to the residence. Upon the officers’ arrival, they met with the homeowners, who stated that when they woke up, they discovered a curtain to one of the windows was draped over the couch and the blind to the same window was rolled all the way up. A review of the video surveillance showed two masked actors enter the home via the window. Unknown on the proceeds of the burglary at this time. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.”
