Fireworks Lit Near Homes In Livingston; Police Launch Investigation

A homeowner said his surveillance system captured video of two people lighting fireworks, kicking his residence and running away.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Multiple incidents involving fireworks being set off near homes have been reported over the past few weeks in Livingston, authorities announced Tuesday.

The Livingston Police Department released the following details about the most recent incident:

“On Oct. 5 at 9:18 p.m., Livingston police officers responded to a Park Drive residence on a report of criminal damage. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who stated that his video surveillance had captured two suspects approaching his residence, lighting a firework sparkler, kicking his residence and running away. The actors fled the scene prior to police arrival.”

“There have been two other incidents with fireworks being lit on residential property in the last couple of weeks,” police said, pointing to one incident on Kimball Avenue and another on Rainbow Ridge Drive.

It isn’t clear if the incidents are related, police said. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating all three incidents.
