High blood pressure is known as “the silent killer” because it has no symptoms of its own, but it can dramatically increase one’s risk of developing heart disease or stroke. Many people with high blood pressure don’t even know they have it; the signs and symptoms are often misunderstood. High blood pressure can be managed effectively though lifestyle changes and, when necessary, medication.
