Jersey Cares Annual Coat Drive Under Way

Coats are being collected for at-risk men, women and children throughout Essex County as part of the 16th annual Jersey Cares Coat Drive. 

The non-profit organization's goal is to collect and distribute 50,000 "gently used" winter coats this fall. 

The drive is taking place between Nov. 1 and Dec. 15. 

During the past 15 years, Jersey Cares has collected, sorted and distributed hundreds of thousands of winter coats to New Jersey residents in need. 

Donated coats are collected and bagged for pick-up by companies, churches, police stations, schools and other organizations and individuals leading collection drives. 

The coats are then dropped off at a Jersey Cares Container Site, located throughout the state. Finally, social service agencies schedule times to pick-up and distribute the coats to those in need. 

If you have a coat to donate, bring it to any of the participating Essex County collection sites listed below. More information about the coat drive is also available on the Jersey Cares website.
