Mercedes Benz Stolen From Livingston Driveway In Broad Daylight

The car was tracked to a home in East Orange, said police.

A new Mercedes Benz was stolen in broad daylight on Saturday from a Livingston driveway, according to police.

A female resident was loading items into the car that was parked in her driveway on Lockhern Drive when she went back into her home for a moment, according to police. When she returned to her car, a 2013 Mercedes E550, it was gone. 

The resident reportedly left the car’s key fob, or keyless electronic entry and start system, in the vehicle when she re-entered her home, said police.

Using the vehicle’s onboard navigation tracker, police pinpointed the car’s location to a home in East Orange on N. 8th Street. Livingston police contacted East Orange police who went to the home to investigate, according to police. 

When East Orange police arrived at the home, a man was seen coming from the rear of the house and entering the car. The man in the stolen car was able to escape by ramming into an East Orange police cruiser, said police.

The Mercedes’ is still missing. The investigation is ongoing, said police.
