Former board members and educators Ronnie Ferber Konner and Ronnie Spring have been selected to fill two vacancies on the Livingston Board of Education.
Konner retired last June as a teacher of Spanish. She previously served three terms and twice served as president. Spring has recent experience on the school board, including serving as board president. He is a school administrator.
The board interviewed six candidates for the positions vacated when Leslie Winograd and Dr. David Jasin resigned due to personal reasons.
The new members were sworn in by Board Secretary Steven Robinson, and will serve through the January 5, 2015 reorganization meeting.
In November, Livingston voters will elect members to serve on the Board of Education for various terms. Konner and Spring have announced their candidacies to the unexpired terms. Voters will select either Buddy August or current board President Barry Funt for a full three-year term.
Livingston residents interested in serving for two or one-year terms have until Tuesday, Sept. 2 to file a nominating petition with the Office of the Essex County Clerk.
